After leaving school I started a 3-year course in marketing, which lasted 6 months! Keen and eager to start working, I got a job as a sales rep for an electrical company in Dimbaza (of all places) and worked there for the next 3 years. I then decided to go back home to the family in Scotland and worked as a bar manager in a small exclusive hotel called the Royal Hotel in Comrie, near Crieff (where Ewan Mcgregor is from and where I happened to meet his mum in a pub one night). After getting the sack for repeatedly drinking on the job, I headed south for Bristol to meet up with some mates I had met on my travels. After bullshitting a little on my CV, I managed to get a job as an Area Manager for a huge roofing refurbishment company where I stayed for 3 years. In amongst those years were plenty trips to Europe and especially the Octoberfest in Munich where I could act like an idiot with all my kiwi mates (good enough excuse). I then headed for Christchurch in New Zealand where I stayed for 6 months. I couldn’t get a work permit but managed to get a cash job as a salesman for a shop-fitting company, it was a national company so I managed to see the whole of the South Island mixing business with pleasure. I then headed to Australia where I stayed for a few months lazing around on Bondi beach and checking out the East Coast up to the Great Barrier Reef. Finally, back to South Africa, the best country in the world! I worked for a Xerox dealership in East London for 3 years which I enjoyed but missed being in a place where you can walk down the street without being stopped 50 times to chat to people you know, so that was it, off to Cape Town where I have been for the last year, working as a Sales Executive for ITWeb, an on-line technology news company.

I have been seeing the same woman, Angela Woolf, for the past 3 years (a lot of you might know her dad, BRFU President, Don Woolf), no ring, no kids, one cant just rush into these things! Most week ends are spent playing golf, checking out all the weird and wonderful attractions Cape Town has to offer, pubs, clubs and braai’s with friends.

I look forward to seeing most of you in 2007, 15 years, phew! Take care till then.
