The 3.5 mile stretch of beach, St Ouen is home to
the enthusiastic local surfers and some mad South Africans living a home from home experience.
In July, 2000 a group
of South Africans including myself imported 10 Mako inflatables powered by 50hp Yamaha's engines. A regular circuit was established
and every 2 weeks during the summer season the boats are on the water.
Tragically a competitor was killed instantly during
a race in July 2004 and the sport has never really recovered from the loss.
